INFLATION will likely ease to as low as 2.7 percent or pick up to 3.5 percent in April, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, the central bank said its Department of Economic Research projected consumer price growth “to settle within the 2.7-3.5-percent range” in March.

Headline inflation eased to a 15-month low of 3.3 percent in March from 3.8 percent in February.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is set to release official April inflation data on May 7.

“Higher domestic oil prices and the slight upward adjustment in electricity rates are seen to provide upside price pressures for the month,” the BSP said. MAYVELIN U. CARABALLO
