MANILA, Philippines — “Epal” and “Sipsip”

This was how the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) described on Wednesday police Chief Oscar Albayalde after his remarks saying that the group was the actual “anti-workers”

“Sobra namang sumipsip sa Pangulo itong si General Albayalde. Epal na siyang masyado. He has already established that he is a human right violator but we will not be cowed or intimidated by his baseless threats and sweeping accusations,” KMU chair Elmer Labog said in a statement on Labor Day

Albayalde said on Monday that KMU was scaring away foreign investors in the country by encouraging laborers to stage protest actions.

He added that this was leading to thousands of Filipinos losing their jobs.

“How can they say that we are anti-worker? Baka sila ang anti-worker?” Albayalde said in a press briefing.

“Alam niyo kung bakit? Ito ang sigurado. Bakit ba umaalis ang mga investors sa atin? Papasukin ng KMU, i-i-instigate ‘yung unyon, and then magra-rally sila, ‘Yung investor mawawalan ng gana, uuwi sa kanila,” he said.

However, the KMU instead blames the government for the lack of investors in the country.

Despite the criticism of Albayalde, Labog said the KMU would remain unfazed.

“We will continue to resist and assert our collective and constitutionally-guaranteed and protected rights to exercise our political rights, including the right to express dissent,” he said.

“Albayalde and Pres. Duterte will go down in history as monsters alongside the likes of ousted dead dictator Ferdinand Marcos,” Labog added. /cbb
