A YELLOW alert will be up in the Luzon grid for three hours on Monday due to thin reserves, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

In its advisory, the NGCP said the yellow alert notice would be raised from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” it added.

Available capacity is 11,814 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 10,865 MW.

The NGCP declares a yellow alert when reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant in the grid which is 647 MW for Luzon.
