Mayor Abby expresses confidence in Makati polls

MANILA, Philippines–With days before the May 13 elections, Makati Mayor Abby Binay and the rest of the Team Performance slate are confident in the outcome of the local elections in Makati, judging by the swelling number of support they have been getting.

Mayor Abby is also thankful for the support of the people for her runningmate Monique Lagdameo, who is also a strong contender for the vice mayoralty race.

Abby said Team Performance will be finishing strong following the pledge of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) to support her candidacy, along with majority of her Team Performance slate.

 

The INC has also endorsed her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, as congressman in the first district, and re-electionists Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo and Congressman Luis Campos of the second district.

 

Also endorsed were six candidates for councilor in each district. For District 1: Martin Arenas, VirJhong Hilario, Jojo Javier, Armand Padilla, Joey Villena, and Alcine Ichi Yabut.

 

For District 2: Dennis Almario, Doris Arayon, Bong Ariones, Bodik Baniqued, Sammy Cruz, and Ina Sarosa.  

 

Meanwhile, several organized groups representing various sectors in Makati have come forward and endorsed Mayor Abby and her entire Team Performance slate, declaring their full support in the upcoming elections.

 

These include Tropang Makati consisting of former supporters of Kid Peña (Tropang Kid) who are now backing the mayor and the candidacy of her father as congressman of the first district.

 

Other endorsers of Team Performance include 100 percent of the JODA membership of the United Transport Federation of Makati (UTFM) and 62 out of 65 TODA members of the Makati Tricycle Federation (MATRIFED) from the public transport sector, and over 30 vendors associations, homeowners associations, LGBT community, senior citizens councils, and women’s groups. /jpv
