CHRISTOPHER Lawrence “Bong” Go, a senatorial candidate endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte, cast his vote in Davao City on Monday.

Go fell in line and waited for his turn for more than two hours before casting his vote in a precinct at Buhangin Central Elementary School in Davao City.

A former special assistant to the President, Go placed in the third to fifth spot in Pulse Asia’s latest senatorial survey.

He is part of the ruling party PDP-Laban and is also being endorsed by Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who is chairman of the administration-backed slate Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Earlier on Monday, Go visited the Carmelite Monastery in Davao City to pray and light a candle before heading to the polling precinct.

“The family of President Duterte, parati nila kaming pinagdarasal tapos ngayon pinagdasal po nila ako, mga madre ng Carmelite. Malapit sila sa amin, parating nila kaming pinagdarasal,” Go told reporters.

Dalawa lang naman po ang hiniling ko sa kanila, sabi ko nga please pray for the President, good health to continue to serve the people  and ako rin po to enlighten me today, bless me and tulungan po ako na makapagsilbi pa po sa Filipino people,” he said.

Go had served as the trusted aide of President Duterte for over 21 years. CATHERINE S. VALENTE
