Ambulance slams into carabao in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY – An ambulance carrying a pregnant woman hit a female carabao in Barangay Tangub, this city on Thursday night which resulted in the animal’s death.

The carabao was owned by Apolonio Cabalhin, 67, of the said village.

Police Staff Sergeant Randy Abello, traffic investigator, said four carabaos were crossing the street when one of them was allegedly hit by an ambulance driven by 53-year-old Renato Panabi of La Carlota City.

The ambulance was on its way to a private hospital in Bacolod City when it reportedly overtook a vehicle it was tailing and hit the carabao.

The carabao died on the spot. Its body was pulled from the middle of the road by the patrol car of Police Station 8.

The pregnant woman was unharmed. She was transferred to the ambulance of Bacolod City to a private hospital.

Panabi was unharmed but his companion who was seated at the front passenger seat of the ambulance sustained minor injuries.

For his part, Panabi said he was not speeding when it happened. (Glazyl Masculino)
