SIX junior high school students of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) who were embroiled in a scandal on social media were not allowed to join the graduation ceremony on Wednesday.

In a statement emailed to The Manila Times, the PSHS Board said, however, that “three of the students would get their diplomas while the other three would only get certificates of  of completion of the 6-year program.”

It added that “all six students have to comply with additional requirements that are part of the sanctions given to them.”

In an interview with reporters, PSHS Main Campus Executive Director Lilia Habacon said the decision was reached after a “lengthy” deliberation.

The school’s board of trustees came under fire from the public for their initial lenient treatment of the six students, all male, who were found to have posted lewd photos of their schoolmates on social media. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
