There will be periods of thunderstorms and isolated rain showers during the opening of classes in many schools throughout the country tomorrow.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the oscillation of the intertropical convergence zone, which is the breeding ground for potential low-pressure areas and tropical cyclones, is expected to affect Mindanao in the next few days.

The State weather bureau said mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.

Light easterly and southeasterly winds will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be slight except during thunderstorms.

By Wednesday and Thursday, Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The frontal system north of Luzon may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains and isolated thunderstorms in Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Cagayan, and Batanes.

The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
