Ceres-Negros conceded a crucial away goal in the second half and was forced to a 1-1 draw by Hanoi FC in Tuesday’s first leg of their AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal semifinals at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Pape Omar cancelled Bienvenido Maranon’s opener before the hour mark with a brilliant show in the 67th minute as the Vietnamese side gained some edge going into next week’s return leg in Hanoi.
If the score stands in the match set at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi will advance to the ASEAN Zonal Finals on the away goal advantage.
The result didn’t deter Maranon, the AFC Cup’s top goalscorer with 10, from feeling optimistic.
