Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres might be on a slump as of late, but she remains a huge threat to the ONE Championship Women’s Atomweight division.

And her upcoming foe in Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan knows all about that.

The two youthful athletes are set for a collision course at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY on 12 July at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

For Radzuan, while the style of Torres perfectly fits her, she knows that the 23-year old Filipina still remains as a dangerous foe.

“She’s a striker. Everything she does revolves around striking, so it’ll be good to compete against someone like this,” said Torres.

“We’ve watched most of her fights, and there’s only a minimal amount of ground game involved. Of course, although she mainly strikes, I must be wary of her speed or her movement in the ring. It could be something we’ve never witnessed from her before.”

For Radzuan, she certainly don’t want to give Torres chances to establish herself on the feet.

Though Torres dropped her previous three contests, the Catalan Fighting System still remains a dangerous as the match goes on given her power on the feet, and ability to finish when given a chance.

“I want that early finish. I cannot predict how it will end, as it could go either way.”

Asked to give an assessment of their upcoming match, Radzuan believes that it could go either way, given their similarities in style – from their wushu background to their emerging all-around game.

“I could finish her on the ground or through my striking. She could too. But I know I’m hungrier for the finish, and definitely want it to come in the first round.”

All in all, Radzuan knows that she has to tread very carefully in this match if she wants to get back to her winning ways – she has to acknowledge the danger that Torres presents

“Things could happen anytime, so I can never be too boastful of my chances. She might have a better game plan in store, who knows?”
