Belingon Looks To Have Last Laugh In Fernandes Rivalry

Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon knows that he’s now in the ‘make or break’ moment of his career in the ONE Championship Bantamweight division.
Once and for all, Belingon will have to chance to end his storied – and often feisty – rivalry with longtime division kingpin Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes as their fourth match has been confirmed by no less than ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
The pair will be battling it out once again in one of the featured matches in ONE: CENTURY which will take place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on 13 October.
Belingon knows the implication of this match for his legacy.
“This is so important for us,” said Belingon who shared that he plans to replicate Joshua Pacio’s run at winning his ONE Strawweight World Title once again.
“If we get the belt back, I think it will prove that we’re number one in Asia. I am inspired by Joshua cause he got his belt back. Now I have to get mine back and bring it home in Baguio.”
Sharing the Circle with Fernandes three times already, Belingon said that there’s nothing that Fernandes can do to surprise him and vice versa.
Not it’s simply about being prepared and coming in the best shape of his life.
“More than ever, I am familiar with Bibiano. His style, the way he moves, I already know what to expect and what I’ll do in our fourth match,” shared Belingon.
“For our gameplan, I’m leaving it to coach Mark Sangiao so I can effectively counter his striking and takedowns.”
While there’s no telling as to how the match will end, Belingon is targeting a grand finish in this match to finally end all talks of controversies against the proud Brazilian.
“Hard to tell how it will end, but I’m looking for a knockout so that all talks will be settled,” said Belingon. “It’s hard to leave this to the judges because there would be doubts there. I have to get that knockout win.”
