4 killed, 28 arrested in Laguna drug busts

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna: Four suspected drug pushers were killed while 28 others, including two most wanted, were arrested in simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations in Laguna on Wednesday.

In a report to Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza, PRO Calabarzon Regional Director, Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna provincial director, said that the first operation was conducted by the San Pedro City Police at 12:05 a.m.

Police Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation at Purok 7, PNR Site, Barangay Nueva.

Matta said the suspect identified only as a certain “Meng” sensed that he was transacting with a policeman who posed as a buyer. He immediately drew his .45 caliber pistol and fired on the lawman who shot back.

Recovered from the suspect was one sachet of shabu and his gun.

Another buy-bust operation was conducted by Cabuyao City Police at Main Road, Camella Homes, Bermuda, Baranay Banlic at 1:40 a.m.

The suspect was identified as Roberto Patricio, 56, and a resident of 673, Cardinal Village, Barangay Sampiruhan, Calamba City.

The suspect also sensed that he was dealing with police operatives and drew his firearm at the police officer who acted as poseur buyer. Police operatives returned fire, resulting in the suspects’ death.

Recovered were a sachet of shabu and a .38 caliber revolver.

In Calamba City, suspects Renato Norvaez and Andrew Diatao were killed in an encounter with police after a buy-bust operation at Barangay Bucal at 1:40 a.m.

The policemen were unharmed.

Recovered from the suspects were a caliber .45 pistol, a cal .38 revolver and a sachet of shabu.
