TROPICAL storm “Falcon” (international name: Danas) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon, the state-run weather bureau said.

As of 2 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted Falcon at 655 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

As it continued to move in a northward direction at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour (kph), Falcon also gained strength, carrying maximum winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Storm warning signals have been lifted with the departure of Falcon from the PAR but the enhanced southwest monsoon was expected to bring monsoon rains or moderate to at times heavy rains over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, are expected to experience light to moderate rains.

Gale warning are still up Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Isabela Aurora, Quezon Province including Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon. Pagasa advised against sea travel, especially for small fishing boats and vessels in the affected areas.

Ordinario said that generally fair weather may be expected by weekend. DIVINA NOVA JOY DELA CRUZ
