President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday raised the bounty for the killers of four policemen in Negros Oriental province to P3 million, saying the reward could go up to as much as P20 million.

At a speech in the town of Candon, Ilocos Sur province, Duterte went on a fit of rage as he narrated how he was angered by the killing of the four police officers.

“Bring that son of a b…’s head! That’s okay with me,” the President said in front of a crowd that attended the inauguration of the Candon City Bypass Road at the village of Oaig Daya.

Results of police forensic tests showed the four policemen — Cpl. Relebert Beronio and Patrolmen Raffy Callo, Roel Cabellon and Marquino de Leon — suffered “traumatic blows” before their deaths.

Duterte said the bounty “will increase…15, 20 million.” “I will tell them, whoever the leader is, don’t bring the body,” said the President.

The four policemen were checking the area for reports of New People’s Army presence when they were ambushed. The NPA has owned up the killing, however, accusing the four policemen of spying on the local community and helping the military and police commit abuses against villagers.

Duterte’s first reward offer was P1 million then he offered another P200,000 for the mastermind of the killings. INQUIRER NORTHERN LUZON /TSB
