TNT KaTropa aims to pull way with a 2-0 lead from Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at 6:15 p.m. tonight in Game 2 of their best-of-five semifinal series in Season 44 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Troy Rosario scored eight of his 24 points in the last period on top of 10 rebounds as the Gin Kings escaped with 95-92 win in Game 1.

“This win will not matter if we do not come back again in two days. So we have to prepare again. We cannot relax because Ginebra will come back. Hopefully, we sustain our defense and play that way again,” said TNT coach Bong Ravena.

Import Terrence Jones displayed strong leadership by scattering 24 points in addition to 12 rebounds and seven assists.

TNT’s Tony Semerad won’t be available to play in Game 2 because of a shoulder injury he sustained in a collision with Justin Brownlee. Semerad notched 17 points before being incapacitated.

But TNT team consultant Mark Dickel is not counting on a flimsy one-game advantage.

“This is going to be a long series. Ginebra knows what they are doing, they’ve been winning for a long time while we’ve got a lot of players who are new to this level and haven’t won before,” he said.

Ginebra Coach Tim Cone vowed to tie the series.

“We did not play our best game and for us to beat a team like TNT, we need to be at our sharpest. Too many breakdowns, too many key turnovers. We need to clean things up,” said Cone.

Brownlee, who flirted a triple-double of 23 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists in Game 1 will lead the Gin Kings anew in Game 2.
