Crime scene

A man, who allegedly suffered from depression after undergoing heart surgery, committed suicide after shooting to death his wife and two children inside their house in Paranaque City, Monday afternoon, police said.

Investigators said the suspect, 52, shot his wife and two children aged 14 and 9 before shooting himself using a .45-caliber pistol. All were found lifeless with gunshot wounds in the head.

Based on Parañaque City Police report, the incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. inside the house of family in Barangay San Isidro, Pranaque City.

Family housemaid Jackie, 52, told police that prior to the incident, the suspect asked her to buy olive oil from a nearby supermarket at about 12 noon.

Jackie said that when she came back from supermarket at about 2:30 p.m., the main gate of the house was closed, prompting her to repeatedly call the attention of the family members inside, but no one answered.

Sensing that something happened to the family inside, she called the mother of the suspect’s wife for help.

The duo scaled the fence to get inside the house and were both shocked upon seeing the bloodied bodies of the victims.

Police said the suspect and his son were discovered lifeless inside the master’s bedroom while his daughter was found dead on a sofa.

The wife was found dead at the driver’s side of Toyota Fortuner. Police presumed that she was about to escape when killed.

According to the initial assessment of investigators, the suspect first shot his wife who was inside the car at the garage, next his daughter, then his son, before finally shooting himself.

Police learned that the suspect had frequented a shooting range.

The police ruled out robbery as the motive behind the killing as there was no indication that somebody entered the house.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the crime scene a .45-caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with six pieces of live ammunition and four spent shells.

The witness told police that the suspect had manifested mental and emotional changes after he underwent a heart operation.

Probers are eyeing depression and financial difficulties as possible reasons that forced the man to kill his family and end his life. (Jean Fernando, Dhel Nazario)
