Abbotsford police are asking the public to be vigilant in response to what they say is a sexually-motivated attack on a 42-year-old woman in her own backyard.

The incident happened shortly after midnight Tuesday in the city’s Clearbrook area, north of Highway 1.

The woman was alone in her yard when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown attacker.

Police say the assault ended when a neighbour returned home.

The woman was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The police say the attacker, believed to be an adult male, fled the scene with an unspecified electronic device belonging to the victim.

“The investigation is in the early stages and it appears that the attack was sexually motivated,” APD Const. Mike Willford said in a release.

“Due to the nature of the attack the victim was unable to describe the attacker in any detail.”

Anyone with information about this incident can call Abbotsford police at 604-859-5225 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
