Pagasa: Yellow rainfall alert over Zambales for Thursday; flooding possible

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Zambales may have to brace for heavy rain as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a yellow rainfall alert over the province on Thursday
In its 2 p.m. advisory, Pagasa said the yellow rainfall warning was raised due to rain being dumped by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” which is being enhanced by Tropical Storm “Hanna.”
According to the state weather bureau, a yellow rainfall warning is usually raised when 7.5-15 millimeter of rain is accumulated in a span of an hour, and is expected to persist within the next two hours.
A yellow rainfall warning also means that flooding is possible in flood-prone areas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is expected over Cavite, Laguna and Batangas within the next three hours.
Light to moderate rain is currently affecting Metro Manila, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Nueva Ecija (General Tinio), Tarlac (San Jose, Capas), and Quezon province (General Nakar), which may persist within the next three hours and may affect nearby areas.
“The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to monitor the weather condition,” the advisory read. /muf
