MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) rewarded on Friday over P11 million to 18 confidential informants who relayed illegal drug activities in their neighborhood to authorities, among them tipsters with the pseudonym “Sam Milby” and two with aliases “Cardo” or the nickname of Ricardo Dalisay in the hit series “Ang Probinsyano.”

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said each of the two informants named Cardo received P2 million.

Aquino said one of them gave information to PDEA that led to the seizure of 274 kilograms of “shabu” and death of two drug suspects in Tanza, Cavite on February 3.

The other Cardo provided information that led to the dismantling of a clandestine “shabu” laboratory and seizure of 91.68 kilograms of “shabu” and 2.45 liters of liquid “shabu,” and the arrest of five drug suspects in a raid at a condominium unit in Pasay City on September 25, 2018.

Apog also received P2 million for providing information that resulted in the confiscation of 82.29 kilograms of “shabu” and the arrest of a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Muntinlupa on March 19.

The rest of the monetary reward was divided to informants with aliases Let-let, Bobords, Boy, Vin, Baco, Ed, Daine, Zaido, Blacky, Alboby, Teddy Bear, Tikboy, Batuzai, Gawed, and Apog, through the “Operation Private Eye,” an incentive scheme encouraging citizens to report suspected illegal drug activities in their communities.

PDEA rewarded the cash to the informants during the 17th anniversary of the agency on Friday held at its national headquarters in Quezon City.

“As we celebrate the accomplishments of the past 17 years, we also look towards ways to continue to enhance our capabilities in ridding our country of illegal drugs and their purveyors,” said Aquino.
