An unidentified man was killed in a shootout with police after he reportedly stole a motorcycle from a lady rider in Barangay 161, Caloocan City, Sunday morning.

Police said the slain suspect was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black helmet.

According to police report, one Analyn Cortez Bonafe, 25, was driving her Yamaha Mio Sporty motorcycle along West Service Road in Caloocan City at about 5:15 a.m. when two unidentified men reportedly took the motorcycle from her at gunpoint.

Members of the Intelligence Branch and Special Operations Unit conducted a follow-up operation after Bonafe reported the incident to the Caloocan City Police Station.

When the police spotted the men near the area where they allegedly stole the motorcycle, one of the perpetrators engaged the lawmen in a firefight as his cohort fled.

The police retaliated and hit the suspect, killing him instantly.

Investigators retrieved from the crime scene the stolen motorcycle and a .38-caliber firearm. (Minka Tiangco)
