It may still be August (just), but there’s no denying the fact that we are quickly, undeniably barrelling toward that in-between-seasons time when cable-knit sweaters feel like overkill — but so do spaghetti strap dresses (unless you’re going out-out).

To combat the confusion, start with your accessories and work your way in: sandals are still OK, but ankle boots are, too. As for your head? Hats and hair accessories are clearly continuing their reign this fall, so whether you squeeze in a few last wears out of a fantastic straw number or switch into wool felt mode, Rebecca Tay showcases five hats topping our wish lists right now.

If you’re prone to chills, chances are that the impending change in seasons means you’ve already invested in a few cool-weather staples. Add this ‘Millennie’ wool hat to your closet: it’s elegant and cool and will literally go everything this fall.

That cool-kid trend of removing the vowels (and sometimes a few other letters) from a word has made its way into fashion — and we’re liking the VLTN version the best. Short, of course, for Valentino, it’s emblazoned onto this bucket hat, another definite cool-kid trend — but one we think everyone should try.

We thought we’d had enough of the seashell trend, but then we spotted this little number. With its perfect black-stitched brim and subtle seashell trim, it’s hard to resist — and if you have a last minute getaway planned (or are simply banking on a few more weekends of summer sunshine), it’s a no-brainer.

Zara, zara.com | $39.90

With ugly runners and high-waisted mom jeans firmly back on our radar, and with all the continued focus on streetwear, are you really that surprised to see that visors have also re-entered the fashion vernacular? This version one brings back everything we love about Prada: that classic black nylon and the iconic, triangular silver logo.

Holt Renfrew, holtrenfrew.com | $340

A baseball cap is both a tried-and-true classic and an essential in every wardrobe. But rather than reach for a super-sporty one (or, perhaps because you already have one of those), opt for this cashmere version. Available in grey, black or navy, use it to add an edge to any look, dresses and more feminine outfits included.

Uniqlo, uniqlo.ca | $29.90
