A Vancouver man who ran a North Shore music studio has been charged with child pornography and sexual assault.

Lamar Victor Alviar, a 22-year-old Vancouver man, was publicly identified last month after his arrest, as police feared there may be more victims who had yet to come forward.

At the time, Coquitlam RCMP said Alviar was facing allegations of sexual misconduct involving students and non-students that allegedly took place in Coquitlam. Alviar was listed as a multi-instrumentalist and music instructor at LA Music Studio in North Vancouver.

On Monday, police said additional witnesses came forward to speak with police and charges have since been approved against Alviar. He faces one count of possession of child porn, one count of communicating with a minor to facilitate a sexual offence, three counts of sexual touching of a minor and three counts of sexual assault.

Alviar was scheduled to appear in court in Port Coquitlam Monday.

Investigators are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed or been a victim of a sexual offence to contact police.
