Magnitude 4.1 quake strikes Tulunan, Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck Tulunan, Cotabato on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismoloy (Phivolcs) said.

The quake struck at 3:23 p.m. at 22 kilometers northeast of Tulunan.

Phivolcs said the tremor was of tectonic origin, and had a six-kilometer depth of focus.

The tremor was also felt in the following areas at various intensities:

No aftershocks and damage were expected, Phivolcs added.

The quake comes hours after Tulunan town was earlier struck with a magnitude 5.0 tremor Saturday morning.

Both earthquakes, Phivolcs said, were aftershocks of the strong 6.3-magnitude tremor that first struck Tulunan Wednesday night, killing five people. /jpv
