What it is: A haircare collection from the brand Joico that’s targeted toward the unique concerns of blondes.
The Joico Blonde Life Violet Shampoo is a sulfate-free, “brass-neutralizing cleanser” that promises to “instantly banishes undesirable yellow tones, so cool blondes stay nice and icy.”
The Blonde Life Violet Conditioner “nourishes and neutralizes in one application,” further balancing one’s colour while adding shine, hydration and protection.
What we say: Our tester tried this on her platinum-blonde hair and was surprised by how non-drying the shampoo formula was.
Unlike some brassiness-banishing purple shampoos, it didn’t leave her colour-treated strands feeling dry and rough. Hair felt clean but not stripped, and her processed strands looked balanced and bright.
While the conditioner gave strands a boost of hydration, she still opted for a leave-in masque in order to provide a bigger hit of strand-saving moisture.
