Makeover: Soft sophistication in new youthful look

Jennifer Burton, 47, is an event planner and was ready to refresh her style. She wanted a softer, more youthful look with a sophisticated feel.
Jennifer has straight, medium density hair which was previously highlighted. She finds her hair to be limp, and often wears it up. I wanted to create a style that was fun, easy to manage, and sophisticated.
I shampooed her hair using KMS Add Volume Shampoo to give limp and flat hair a little lift. I sprayed KMS Add Volume Leave-In Conditioner for weightless conditioning, then sectioned her hair and began cutting the back of the hair into a jaw-length graduated shape. I incorporated soft textured layers for added movement, and love the way this shape works with Jennifer’s face shape.
Before styling, I sprayed KMS Add Volume Styling Foam and rough-dried the hair with a blow dryer, then used a brush to create a little lift at the roots. I blow dried her part on the other side to soften her hairline, and I finished her style with KMS Hair Stay Working Spray for flexible hold.
Makeup:
Jennifer loves a bold red lip and dark eye makeup, so to soften her look, we opted to play down her lips and stick to a smoky eye.
We used a rich-chocolate brown shadows to create a smoky effect and rimmed her eyes with black waterproof eye liner. We added an opalescent silver shadow to the inner corner of her eyes for a little shimmer, curled her lashes and coated them with black mascara.
We filled and reshaped her eyebrows and added a hint of coral-peach blush to the apples of her cheeks, and finished with a neutral lipstick.
