Transit workers are currently staging a multi-part strike, as negotiations with the Coast Mountain Bus Company broke off last week.

The strike began Friday with a uniform strike by transit operators and an overtime ban by maintenance workers. SeaBus service was also affected this weekend.

Unifor is seeking a 15.2 per cent increase compounded over four years for bus drivers and 16.7 per cent compounded over four years for maintenance workers. The employer, Coast Mountain Bus Company, is offering 9.6 per cent  for drivers and 12.2 per cent for maintenance workers.

There will be six sailing cancellations in the afternoon including:

• The 1:30 p.m. from Lonsdale Quay and 1:45 p.m. from Waterfront will be cancelled.
• The 3:30 p.m. from Lonsdale Quay and 3:45 p.m. from Waterfront will be cancelled.
• The 4:45 p.m. from Lonsdale Quay and 5:00 p.m. from Waterfront will be cancelled.

There will be 10 sailing cancellations in the evening (between 6:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.):

• This will result in sailings every 30-minutes between 6:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., instead of sailings every 15-minutes.
• Regular 30-minute service continues after 9:15 p.m. until the final sailing.
