Quezon City bus terminal closed down over alleged irregularities

QUEZON CITY Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday closed down a bus terminal because of alleged irregularities.
Belmonte said the Baliwag Transit violated the city’s Revenue Code by faking permits for its terminal near E. Rodriguez Avenue on EDSA-North.
She said that the bus company had no traffic clearance and its area on EDSA-North was supposed to be a garage only for its buses, not a terminal.
Officer-in-charge Gilbert Robles of the Baliwag Transit-Cubao Terminal said the use of the area to unload its passengers started early this year.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia said he received complaints about vehicles on standby in the vicinity of the terminal that were causing traffic.
Following the closure of the Baliwag Transity, Belmonte ordered the inspection of all bus terminals in the city. FRANZ EMBUDO
