Dumaguete broadcaster slay suspect placed on immigration watchlist — Andanar

ONE of the suspects in the murder of Dumaguete broadcaster and blocktimer Mercedario “Dindo” Generoso, has been placed on the immigration lookout list, according to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS).
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, who serves as PTFoMS co-chairman, said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra issued an immigration lookout bulletin order against businessman Tomasino Aledro, which would direct the Bureau of Immigration to monitor his entry into and departure from the Philippines.
“I immediately requested Justice Secretary Menard Guevarra, our PTFoMS chairman, to direct the Bureau of Immigration to issue a Look-Out Bulletin Order. Aledro was placed on the list since Friday, November 8,” Andanar said in a statement.
“I have also instructed our Office of the City Prosecutor (OCP) in Dumaguete to apply for a precautionary Hold Departure Order (HDO) as soon as possible against the suspects who are still at-large,” he added.
An HDO prevents an individual from leaving the Philippines.
Aledro is allegedly the owner of the pickup truck used by one of Generoso’s assailants. He is also facing murder charges, along with three others.
“According to reliable sources, Aledro is reportedly a financier of the numbers game Suertres and is deeply involved in illegal gambling operations in his native province; hence, a big flight risk,” said Presidential Communications Undersecretary Joel Egco, PTFoMS executive director.
“He can use his financial resources to get out of the country,” the Palace official added.
Police are still looking for the alleged gunman, PCpl Roger Rubio and Aledro, while retired policeman Glenn Corsame and driver Teddy Salaw – the two others linked to Generoso’s murder – were arrested on Thursday night in Dumaguete City.
Generoso was killed by riding-in-tandem gunmen while driving his brown Hyundai Elantra on his way to his radio program on Bai Radio.
According to authorities, Generoso, 67, sustained eight gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, causing his instantaneous death.
Generoso worked at dyEM FM Bai Radio as an anchor for development programs of the local government, including a controversial reclamation project that was halted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
His radio program in Bai Radio is sponsored by the city government of Dumaguete as an extension of its public information office.
