P2,000 monthly aid for CAFGUs approved

President Duterte has issued Executive Order No. 94 granting P2,000 monthly financial support to members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit.

The financial assistance given to each qualified member of CAFGU Active Auxiliary unit is effective July 1 this year.

The order, signed on Nov. 8, covers duly appointed members of the CAA units “appearing in the roster maintained by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and actually rendering services.”

“Provided, that those who are in the roster and have been appointed but are still undergoing training as of the aforementioned date, shall be entitled to a prorated portion of said financial support upon the satisfactory completion of the prescribed training,” Duterte said in the EO.

The CAFGU, created through EO 264 in 1987, is mandated to complement and support the regular forces of the AFP in dealing with internal and external security threats through the mobilization of CAA units.

Last year, Duterte signed EO 69 granting financial support worth R7,000 to members of CAA units, covering the months of November and December 2018, in recognition of their invaluable service.

The EO also directed the Department of Bureau and Management to study and propose measures for the continuous grant of financial support on a monthly basis.

Duterte’s new EO noted that the funding requirements for the grant of financial support to qualified members of the CAA units will be sourced from the current year’s available appropriations.
