Ramon’ intensifies as it nears Cagayan

TROPICAL Storm “Ramon” further intensified as it moved closer to Northern Cagayan on Monday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysicall and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Signal No. 2 was raised in Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfino Albano, Tumauini, and Divilacan in Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga.

Signal No. 1 was raised in Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan), and the rest of Isabela.

At 8 a.m. On Monday, the center of “Ramon” was spotted 190 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

It was moving northwest at 10 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

The weather-state bureau said the eastern portions of Cagayan and Isabela would have  light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

Ramon is forecast to make landfall in Northern Cagayan tonight or tomorrow morning. FRANZ EMBUDO
