VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo continues to enjoy the support of the committee against illegal drugs, which she heads together with Director General Aaron Aquino of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Lt. Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, PNP officer in charge, gave this assurance to Robredo even after President Rodrigo Duterte said she could not be trusted and called her a “scatterbrain.”

“We support her,” Gamboa said briefly to reporters in a press briefing in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. Gamboa, as PNP OIC, is a member of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

On Wednesday, Robredo said that Duterte should tell her directly if she was out as co-chairman of the ICAD.

Dapat diretsuhin na lang ako, diretso naman ako kausap kung ayaw nyo ako dito [He should tell me straightl that he wants me out],” Robredo told the reporters in a chance interview after her meeting with the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) in Quezon City.

In a late night press briefing, Duterte said he could not trust Robredo.

Robredo also said she was wondering why Duterte appointed her as ICAD co-chairman if he did not trust her.

However, the Vice President vowed to do her job despite Duterte and his allies’ accusations. DARWIN PESCO
