The product: The Upcycled Puffer from GAP

Why we love it: Closing the loop is an increasingly important idea — especially when it comes to fashion.

And that’s what makes garments featuring recycled plastics and reused fibres from major retailers such the GAP so important to highlight.

The American retailer recently released a new outerwear option, called the Upcycled Puffer, that features plastic fibres from 40 discarded plastic bottles repurposed into its design.

The jacket’s mid-weight poly fill, shell and lining are made with 100-per-cent recycled materials, according to brand materials. Buttons, zippers, trim and five per cent of the fabric are made from new materials, a fact the brand highlights in order to mention they’re working on making those sustainable, too.

Available in seven colours — black, yellow, green, pink, red, purple and blue — the slightly oversized style is sure to make its wearer feel warm and toasty this winter, while also feeling a little bit better about their fashion choices, as well.

The price: $178
