Delta police have wrapped up a two-month drug trafficking investigation, resulting in the arrest of eight people and the seizures of drugs, a car and cash.

According to Cris Leykauf, who speaks doe Delta Police, Project Screaming Eagle was launched after patrol officers noticed activity in the community consistent with drug trafficking activity.

Police arrested one man on Oct. 18 and seized a vehicle believed to be used for drug dealing, along with $3,000 in cash and $7,000 of street-level drugs including suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl.

On Nov. 27, police searched a home in the 12000-block of 84th Avenue in Surrey and arrested seven people.

“Our investigators recovered suspected crystal methamphetamine, cash, and evidence associated to drug trafficking at the scene,” said Leykauf. “While officers were on scene a nearby business owner came over and thanked them for their efforts, noting the residence has been problematic.”

Delta police expect to forward a number of charges to Crown counsel for approval.
