THE Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee decided to postpone some scheduled events today, Tuesday, because of bad weather and to ensure the safety of all participating athletes and supporters.

Postponed and rescheduled to a later date or time were Skateboard, Canoe, Kayak, Traditional Boat Race, Sailing, Windsurfing, and Surfing.

The surfing competition in San Juan, La Union was also suspended according to Task Group Maritime commander Allan De Vega.

Organizers have also dismantled tents and secured some equipment that may be damaged by the strong winds and rain brought by typhoon ‘Tisoy’.

The typhoon slightly weakened, however, after landfall in Sorsogon on Monday night.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its 4 a.m. bulletin, spotted the eye of “Tisoy” in the vicinity of San Pascual, Masbate (Burias Island). JEAN RUSSEL V. DAVID
