Shangri-La at the Fort sets festive menus for Christmas
ADDING a homey vibe to countless offers this holiday season is Shangri-La at the Fort’s special touch this Christmas at its fine dining outlets. Think huge servings of comforting flavors to make celebrations this season truly memorable.

For the joyous season, the six restaurants of the hotel launched ala carte and set festive menus fit for everyone’s palate. And on the busy days of December 24 and 25, guests can go for these new menus for a stress-free experience especially for larger groups.

These include the full buffet at the High Street Cafe, tea and pastries at the High Street Lounge, Cantonese food at Canton Road, steaks and sides at the Raging Bull Chophouse and Bar, a Peruvian menu at Samba, and Filipino and Sri Lankan flavors at the Ministry of Crab.

However, given the already numerous food establishments in the area, the hotel has made it a point to try something new by keeping the menus up to date with what guests want, while also retaining signature flavors it is known for.

“Our guests want to have a good night, so we try to give that with good food, a good atmosphere and maybe some drinks. This year’s menus for the different outlets [of the hotel] give a good feel of what the restaurant is doing,” Shangri-La at the Fort executive chef Joris Rycken shared to The Manila Times.

“We may not be the biggest, but the quality and the atmosphere in our restaurants is our key,” he added.

He explained that for Raging Bull, they always try to source new cuts, brands of beef. Guests would be treated to premium Australian grain- and grass-fed beef, fresh seafood and more. This restaurant as well as the in-house Peruvian outlet Samba also offers lunch and dinner with four- or five-courses.

Rycken continued, “At High Street Cafe, we have the stations there. So the seafood is there, the traditional turkey and carving stations, we also have noche buena. We always try to bring new elements, new creativity like with the pastries.”

At the buffet of High Street Cafe, Rycken shared that they take pride in cooking a majority of the food a la minute or on the stations to have fresher and warm food, instead of completely filling the platters.

With this, guests are allowed more freedom to request for flavors that are more fit to their personal liking. The noche buena part of the buffet on December 24 would be open until the wee hours, and would include alcoholic beverages as well. More than that, the buffet schedule is also timed within the hotel’s Holy Mass.

Apart from these, the hotel also offers Filipino holiday platters for those who opt to celebrate noche buena in the comfort of their rooms.

Classic holiday delights such as honey roasted ham, roasted turkey, fruit cake, chocolate truffles, gingerbread houses, assorted jams and cookies are also available at the lobby for guests to bring home or to share at their holiday parties.
