ABS-CBN stars in the running to win international award in Singapore

SINGAPORE: ABS-CBN artists Nadine Lustre, Dimples Romana, Carlo Aquino and Tirso Cruz 3rd will raise the Philippine flag on the red carpet of the Asian Academy Creative Awards tonight, December 6, at the Victoria Theatre here with the hope of winning the international award for their respective categories.

In October, the four stars were declared winners in the regional awards, which automatically earned them nominations for the final gala. Lustre was named Philippines’ Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film “Ulan;” Romana, Philippines’ Best Actress in a Supporting Role for ABS-CBN teleserye “Kadenang Ginto;” Aquino, Best Actor in a Leading Role also for Ulan; and Cruz, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the series “The General’s Daughter.”

On Thursday night, the first set of current affairs and industry awards went to: ANC’s (ABS-CBN’s 24-hour cable news channel) Cathy Yang who won Philippines’ Best News or Current Affairs Anchor; while the movie Ulan by HOOQ won Best Sound.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards was established “to serve the creative industries as the pinnacle of their achievement in content creation and media production. As such, its golden trophy is considered as “a beacon of production excellence” and a milestone symbol for anyone who wins it.”

The Asian Academy Creative Awards forms a significant pillar of the annual Singapore Media Festival and is supported by the Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority.
