PCC hopes for competition policy issuance by 2020

THE Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) is hoping that President Rodrigo Duterte will issue a policy aimed at bolstering fair market competition in the country by next year, its top official said on Wednesday. “Hopefully that it will be endorsed soon. We don’t know if it will be tabled again… That’s where we are. Hopefully we’re getting there, nearing the end of the tunnel,” PCC head Arsenio Balisacan said. The planned guidelines, according to Balisacan, were presented to the Cabinet for the third time and already addressed most of the concerns raised by various agencies. “I think it’s substantively all the issues have been addressed and that’s only the form.” The policy now hinges on the nature of the issuance, whether it should come out in the form of an executive order or memorandum.
