Free hot chocolate and doughnuts were part of a community outreach effort for cannabis in Deep Cove Saturday afternoon. Muse Cannabis held a meet and greet for area businesses and residents at Dollarton Village Mall at 385 North Dollarton Highway.

Muse hopes to be among the first cannabis retail outlets approved by council in the District of North Vancouver in 2020 said Mike McKee, partner and chief financial officer.

“There is always going to be some kind of concern from the community,” he said Saturday.

“But we’ve found … when we can meet with people and explain how we operate (and) the type of customers we’re looking for, it allays a lot of those concerns.”

Muse already operates a retail cannabis store in Vancouver on South Granville at West 15th.

McKee said Muse Cannabis could be open by next June if it meets all the district’s regulatory requirements.

Muse and McKee are involved with JAK’S Beer Wine Spirits, which operate 15 liquor retail stores in B.C.
