Waterfront Station was closed temporarily on Saturday evening as transit police investigated a suspicious package discovered on a SkyTrain.

All lines continued to run during the police incident, though service to and from Waterfront was shut down for nearly 90 minutes, with Expo Line trains turning back at Burrard, and Canada Line trains stopping at Vancouver City Centre.

SeaBus service was also suspended as police worked to determine the origin and nature of the package.

Service between Waterfront Station and Lonsdale Quay was restored just before 7 p.m, as the station reopened following an all clear from transit police.

#SeaBus service is now operating normally. Waterfront Station and Lonsdale Quay are now open. We thank you for your patience this evening. ^sp

Waterfront Station’s temporary closure came just hours before a Vancouver Canucks home game — typically a high-volume time for the SkyTrain. Between that and the shoppers trying to get their shopping done on the weekend, TransLink quickly deployed buses to combat gridlock on a busy Saturday night.
