A court in Surigao del Norte has ordered the arrest of singer Josephine “Yeng” Constantino over comments against a doctor while she and her husband were vacationing in Siargao last year.

Surigao del Norte Rep. (1st District) Francisco Jose “Bingo” Matugas 2nd shared the documents from the Surigao del Norte Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 31 on his Facebook page on Thursday night, saying “justice is about to be served” for Dr. Esterlina Tan, whom the singer berated in a Facebook post.

The documents were initially shared by a certain Chrismar Lumasag Mocorro on a doctors’ Facebook group with consent from Dr. Tan, but the post has since been deleted.

Based on the documents shared by Matugas, Constantino allegedly violated Article 4C of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10175) and article 355 of the Revised Penal Code, which both involve libel.

The warrant of arrest for Constantino was also forwarded to the Quezon City Police Station (QCPD) as per the RTC’s Clerk of Court. Her bail bond is at P30,000. The warrant was signed last December 12.

In July last year, Constantino posted on her social media platforms a rant against a local hospital in Siargao, after her husband, Victor “Yan” Asuncion, was injured while he was cliff diving at the Sugba Lagoon. She had also ranted about the hospital’s facilities and called out its doctors and staff for not giving attention to her husband. Netizens immediately took her to task for doctor shaming and later apologized for her remarks.

As of posting time, Constantino has yet to comment. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
