Mounties in North Vancouver have blocked the main entrance to Lynn Valley as they deal with a potentially armed man who has barricaded himself inside a home.

Lynn Valley Road was closed Friday afternoon between Morgan Road and William Avenue after police responded to a call about a man inside a residence with a gun.

Mounties have been unable to convince him to leave the house. The man is believed to be alone, but police have been so far unable to confirm that there is no one else inside.

According to a tweet from North Vancouver RCMP, a crisis negotiator and the Lower Mainland district emergency response team have been called in to help.

“Efforts are being made to bring a peaceful resolution to the situation,” North Vancouver RCMP said. “Please stay out of the area.”

TransLink said the 228 Lynn Valley and 228 Lonsdale Quay buses were being detoured due to the incident, and drivers are advised to take alternative routes.
