VPD identifies Vancouver murder victims

Vancouver Police has released the identities of a man and a woman murdered in separate attacks last weekend.
Richmond resident Mathieu Flynn, 31, was found dead inside a vehicle in the parkade at the Marine Gateway Cineplex near SW Marine Drive and Cambie Street just before 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 18.
“This incident happened in a very public, busy area,” VPD Const. Tania Visintin said. “We believe several people may have video from their vehicle or information that could help detectives solve this homicide.”
Flynn has a criminal record for assault with a weapon, making counterfeit money and credit card fraud.
No arrests have been made.
Visintin said there is no public risk.
A woman found dead in Gastown early Jan. 19 has been identified as Tonya Hyer, 45.
“Investigators believe there are people in the community who know Hyer and have information surrounding her death,” Visintin said. “Any piece of information, no matter how small, can help.”
