Iconic New York City rockers The Strokes will hit the road again in 2020, beginning with a show in our fair city.

The band quietly teased their return to the stage with a poster shared to their website announcing a March 5, 2020 date at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena.

A Facebook event page announcing details of the show was also posted earlier on Monday but taken down a short time later for an unknown reason.

The only other clue available comes courtesy of The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.’s Twitter account, in which he tweeted: “Come join the beginning of the madness March 5, 2020.”

That tweet also featured the Vancouver show poster, while a second, identical show poster attached to the tweet also lists March 9 as a stop at Seattle’s Wamu Theatre. Hammond Jr.’s tweet also teased a ticket on-sale date of Jan. 31 and hints at additional dates to be announced.

The garage-grunge band formed in 1998 and consists of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti.

The band’s debut Is This It was released in 2001 and shot the band to fame, followed by a number of other highly regarded albums. The band later took a hiatus beginning in 2007 before returning with new music in 2011.

The band is expected to release new music in 2020, after various band members hinted at a return to the studio and new material in recent interviews.
