As expected, Mayor Edwin Olivarez delivered on what he has been saying late last year to clear Parañaque City, comprising of 16 barangays, of illegal drugs by year 2020. The city was conferred with a certificate of recognition by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for successfully passing the National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit, garnering 85 functionality points overall or Ideal on Dec. 16, 2019.

DILG Dir. John Visca of Parañaque City personally handed the award to Mayor Olivarez together with certificated of recognition to each of 16 Barangay Chairmen for having moderate to high functional barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council or Badac. Hence, complimenting the national Government’s Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign in this file photo taken January 20, during flag raising ceremony in Paranaque City.

The city is also eyeing to implement soon its random drug test among officials and employees including barangay officials to stump out illegal drugs at the city so as ensure the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment that is free from drugs.
