More than 500 people have gone to the Vancouver Law Courts since Saturday to be considered as potential jurors in the upcoming Jamie Bacon trial.

Bacon is charged with one count of counselling someone to commit murder in connection with a 2008 shooting in Mission. His trial is scheduled to begin March 3 and last three months.

Prospective jurors arrived Saturday morning and spent the day being broken into smaller groups or “pods.”

On Monday, they were called in to Courtroom 20 one-by-one to be asked several questions by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Catherine Wedge.

Some were excused after explaining why their participation on a jury would be challenging because of other commitments in their lives.

The jury selection is scheduled to last up to six days.
