Stars and employees of embattled ABS-CBN Corp. were up early on Monday to lend support to their executives, who were grilled at the Senate in connection with the network’s franchise.

TV drama “Pamilya Ko” actors — led by Sylvia Sanchez, JM de Guzman, Joey Marquez, Jairus Aquino, Maris Racal and Kiko Estrada — joined the “Kapamilya Walk of Faith.”

So did morning show “Maganang Buhay” hosts Jolina Magdangal, Karla Estrada and Melai Cantiveros, and actors Arjo Atayde and Niko Antonio.

They marched around the network’s compound as they prayed for the renewal of the franchise.

The stars and employees also prayed for personalities involved in the issue — President Rodrigo Duterte, ABS-CBN bosses, Supreme Court justices and members of the Ho use of Representatives where the bill for the network’s franchise renewal is pending.

After the Walk of Faith, they gathered along the ABS-CBN Center Road to watch the Senate hearing. Celebrity couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid were spotted taking the stage to lead participants.

At the Senate, television and movie director Joel Lamangan, an officer of the Directors’ Guild of the Philippines Inc., underscored the importance of the continued operation of ABS-CBN Corp. for artists and directors’ livelihood.

“Kaming mga director ng pelikula, telebisyon at tanghalan ang aming materyal na pinagkukunan ng aming kwento ay ang buhay ng tao (We, movie, television and stage directors get our story materials from someone’s life),” Lamangan said during the hearing,
“Ang araw-araw na katotohanan nakikita namin sa lansangan, ang araw-araw na katotohanan nakikita namin mula sa aming pagkagising hanggang sa aming pagtulog (We see every day truth in the streets, we see every day truth from the time we wake up until the time we go to sleep),” he said. “Yan ang batayan ng aming isinasalaysay na kwento na aming sine-share sa daang-daang mga manonood. Ang pinakamalawak na plataporma ng aming obra ay ang ABS-CBN (That is the basis of our storytelling which we share to hundreds of televiewers. The biggest platform of our masterpiece is ABS-CBN).”
