Follow along as we look back at the moments that made headlines each day during the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Feb. 26, 2010: The gold medals were coming fast and furious for the host nation by this point — Canadian athletes had won Olympic gold for four consecutive days, and many expected the women’s curling team to make it five on Day 15.

The final saw Team Canada, skipped by Alberta’s Cheryl Bernard go head-to-head with Anette Norberg’s Swedish team, the defending Olympic champions. It was a hard-fought battle, and Bernard looked to have things sewn up heading into the 10th and final end. She had a two-stone lead. But a flubbed shot gave Norberg an opening and she tied things up to force an extra end, and eked out a 7-6 win after another uncharacteristic miss from Bernard. The disappointed Canadians had to settle for silver.

Canada had at the short-track speedskating finals at Pacific Coliseum, where Levis, Quebec’s Charles Hamelin kept the golden streak alive with a win in the 500 m final. Hamelin trailed Sung Si-Bak into the final corner, but the Korean world record holder slipped, and the Canadian passed him to claim the gold.

Hamelin found himself back atop the podium later that night, when the Canadian team of Guillaume Bastille, Olivier Jean, François-Louis Tremblay, Hamelin and brother Francois edged the Korean team to own the podium once again.
