PBA: Subido feels comfy at NorthPort

Former University of Santo Tomas guard Renzo Subido is comfortable at the NorthPort Batang Pier but the rookie faces tall order – literally and figuratively – in his first year in the league.

Despite the impending challenges, Subido had a swift transition thanks to the Thomasian connection and familiar faces in Kevin Ferrer, his former UAAP teammate, and coach Pido Jarencio, former mentor of the Growling Tigers for eight years.

“Okay naman si Renzo kasi ‘di naman siya bago sa sistema ni coach Pido,” Ferrer said. “Adjustment niya lang is ‘how to play’ in the PBA talaga.”

The two UST stalwarts were once in the same squad during the 77th and 78th UAAP seasons but under the helm of Bong dela Cruz, who replaced Jarencio after accepting coaching duties with the then-GlobalPort franchise in 2014.

Transition may not be a problem but Subido, standing at 5-foot-9, has yet to experience the grind and level of physicality in the PBA.
