Mayor Edwin Olivarez recognizes the DILG announcement that Parañaque City was among the 1,706 LGUs throughout the country to be conferred with 2019 Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez seems highly gratified and honored following the announcement of the Department of Interior and Local Government that Parañaque City was among the 1,706 LGUs throughout the country to be conferred with 2019 Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping as it recognizes again the City’s good performance in areas of sound fiscal management, transparency and accountability on February 24, during flag raising ceremony in Parañaque City.

The same recognition was also bestowed to Parañaque City in 2017 for promoting transparency in the management of its resources. Olivarez also commended the Budget Office and Accounting Division in particular for measuring up to performance standard set by the Commission on Audit, underlining their significant role in planning and control of the City government’s revenues and expenses.

Records show, Parañaque has made unprecedented progress for the past 6 ½ years due to continued influx of foreign and local investments in the city with the latest count already at almost 30,000 establishments. Following an intensive tax campaign and automation of its tax processing, the city was able to collect 5.3 billion at the close of 2019.

As the City’s earning continued to sustain upward trend, Olivarez has taken steps to carry out sound economic policies and prudence in the disbursement of the city’s resources. Among which is the policy of transparency sharing the city’s day-to-day operations and information with the public. Olivarez also enjoined citizens unprecedented P10 billion from only P3.4 billion in 2012.
