Kris Aquino reunites with Angel Locsin in birthday gathering, goes ‘offline’ ahead of treatment

Kris Aquino gave fans a glimpse of her intimate birthday gathering attended by fellow actress Angel Locsin as she goes “offline” to prepare for a new medical treatment.

Aquino had a belated birthday celebration with Locsin, her sons Josh and Bimby, as well as other people “closest” to her, as shown on her Instagram page today, Feb. 25. The actress celebrated her birthday more than a week ago, last Feb. 14.

“We’ve known each other mula nu’ng baby pa si Bimb. [First] friend n’ya ‘ko sa network namin nu’ng bagong lipat s’ya. Never did I expect na magiging friends for life na kami,” Aquino told fans. (We’ve known each other since Bimb was a baby. I was her first friend in the network when she first transferred. Never did I expect that we would be friends for life.)

She then noted that she has been through a lot with Locsin and expressed how grateful she is that their friendship is “not for public consumption.” Aquino also recalled when she and Locsin extended help to victims of typhoon Odette last year, saying it helped strengthen their bond as friends.

For her part, Locsin showed a similar photo from the gathering on her Instagram page yesterday, Feb. 24, while she expressed love for Aquino.

“Small gathering to celebrate ate Kris’ birthday! Posting this picture because she [looks so] beautiful and healthy here. She’s been struggling with her health for sometime now at na-miss kong naka-glam up [and] full of energy siya (and I missed when she was glammed up and full of energy), love you ate!” Locsin said.

Shortly after showing her birthday gathering, Aquino informed fans that she is going be offline for a few days as she needs to rest for an upcoming treatment.

“Praying very hard na kayanin ng katawan kasi ito ‘yung magiging paraan para maging mas okay ang quality of life ko,” she said. (Praying very hard that my body can handle it because this would be the way to improve my quality of life.)

Without naming her treatment, Aquino explained that she will be getting a “first dose” and was made aware of the possible risks. The process will take about four hours and observation, as well as rest days.

Aquino has been battling an autoimmune disease for years. She recently went through a test to ensure that she is a viable candidate for a treatment abroad. She also revealed that cancer and diabetes had been ruled out by her doctors and that her kidney and liver functions are okay.  /ra
